# Handling contact form submissions

> What happens when someone fills in your CoreHue contact form: a new contact, a conversation in Messages, a notification, and how to reply and follow up.

Source: https://help.corehue.co/docs/contact-forms/handling-submissions/

Each contact form submission creates a new contact, saves their answers and opens a conversation in CoreHue. Find the submission on the contact's page or in **Messages**.

## What happens when someone submits

1. A **contact** is created, as a lead or client depending on the form's **New contacts become** setting, with **Contact form** as its source.
2. Answers from **Contact information** fields are filled in on that contact: phone, company and address.
3. A **conversation** opens in [Messages](/docs/messages/how-messages-work) with every answer they gave, using the form's name as the subject.
4. You get a notification.
5. They see "Your form has been submitted!" with your confirmation message.

CoreHue doesn't email the person a copy. If you'd like them to have something in writing, that's your reply.

## Replying

The submission is a conversation, so reply to it like any other message:

1. Open **Messages** and click the conversation (or open it from the contact's **Messages** tab).
2. Write your reply. You can attach your pricing guide or a sample gallery.
3. Send it.

Your reply goes out by email under your business name, and their answer comes back into the same thread. Everything stays attached to the contact, so their **Messages** tab shows the whole exchange from the first submission. See [Replying to a client](/docs/messages/replying-to-clients).

> **Replying on the Free plan**
Contact forms work on every plan, and submissions always arrive. On Free you can read them, but replying needs Plus or Pro. Upgrade and every past conversation is ready to answer. See [Messages on the Free plan](/docs/messages/messages-on-the-free-plan).

## Turning a submission into work

Once you've talked it through, go to their contact page and use **More actions** to **Create proposal**, **Create booking**, **Create invoice**, **Create contract**, **Create questionnaire** or **Create gallery**. Their details are already filled in. As soon as they book, pay or sign, CoreHue changes them from lead to client. See [Leads vs clients](/docs/contacts/leads-and-clients).

## Getting notified

Contact form submissions come through as new messages, so they follow your Messages notification settings. If you'd like an email each time, check those settings. See [Choosing which notifications you get](/docs/account/notification-emails).

## Things worth knowing

- **Each submission creates a new contact**, even if the email is already in your contacts. A returning client who uses the form again appears twice. See [Dealing with duplicate contacts](/docs/contacts/duplicate-contacts).
- **Answers are saved as sent.** If you change the form later, past submissions keep the questions and answers as they were.
- **Unpublishing or archiving a form** never touches the contacts and conversations it already created.

## Frequently asked questions

### Where do I find a submission?

In **Messages**, under the form's name as the subject, and on the new contact's **Messages** tab.

### Can I see all submissions for one form in a list?

No. CoreHue doesn't have a separate submissions list for contact forms. Each submission is its own conversation in **Messages**, titled with the form's name, so they're easy to spot.

### Does the person get an email confirmation?

No. CoreHue doesn't email the person a copy of their contact form submission. They see your confirmation message on screen, and your first reply is their first email from you.

### Can I reply from my own email app?

Yes, on Plus and Pro. Once the conversation has started, replies you send from your email app land in the same thread. See [Replying from your own email app](/docs/messages/replying-from-your-own-email).
