Download a contract as a PDF to keep a copy of the agreement and its signatures. Completed contracts also include a certificate of completion with the signing record. Your client can download their copy once the contract is completed.

## Download a contract

1. Open the contract from **Documents → Contracts**.
2. Choose **Download PDF**.

You can download from the moment your client signs. At **Signed** you get the contract with your client's signature. At **Completed** you get the final version with both signatures and the certificate of completion.

## When your client can download

Your client gets a **Download PDF** button on their contract page only once the contract is **Completed**, meaning both of you have signed. If they've just signed and ask where their copy is, the answer is to [counter-sign](/docs/contracts/counter-signing). The button appears as soon as you do.

They download it from the same link they signed on, any time. No account needed.

## What's in the PDF

- **The agreement as signed.** Every variable filled in, and every blank your client completed showing their answer in the text.
- **Signatures.** Each signature as it was drawn or typed, with who signed, the date, and their IP address.
- **A closing note** at the end of the agreement saying the document was signed electronically, with the contract ID and its content hash.
- **Page numbers** on every page, plus "Powered by CoreHue" on the Free plan.

The PDF keeps a plain, consistent layout whatever [client page theme](/docs/account/branding-your-client-pages) you use. It's the executed record, so it shouldn't change look if you restyle your pages later.

## The certificate of completion

A completed contract gets an extra page at the end, titled **Certificate of completion**. It shows:

- The contract number and document ID
- A **Timeline**: when it was sent, first viewed, signed and completed
- The **Signers**: each person's name, email, when they signed, their IP address and the browser used to sign. For your client, it also shows the exact consent wording they agreed to.
- The **Content hash**, a unique SHA-256 fingerprint of the agreement and everything filled into it, plus the agreement version

A contract that's only at **Signed** doesn't have this page yet. That's one more reason to counter-sign promptly. [Is an e-signed contract legally binding?](/docs/contracts/are-e-signatures-legally-binding) explains why this record matters.

## Keep your own copies

CoreHue keeps your contracts and you can download them whenever you like. Still, for anything substantial, save a copy somewhere of your own too, like a folder per client or per year. Good records shouldn't depend on any one service, and it takes a minute.

## Frequently asked questions

No. The **Download PDF** button appears for your client only once the contract is **Completed**, after you counter-sign. You can download it yourself from Signed onwards.

### Can I download a contract that hasn't been signed yet?

No. The **Download PDF** action for a contract appears once your client has signed. Before that, open the contract in CoreHue to read or check it.
