Choosing your favorite photos

If your photographer has asked you to pick photos, for an album, prints or final edits, you can do it right in your gallery. Star the ones you love, add a note if you like, and send your list over when you're done.

If you don't see a star on your photos, your photographer hasn't turned favorites on for this gallery. You can still tell them your picks by email, using the photo file names.

Star a photo

  1. Tap the star on a photo, or on the photo once it's open full screen. On a phone, open the photo first: the star isn't on the small thumbnails.
  2. The first time, you'll be asked for your email under "Save your selections". Enter it and tap Continue.
  3. Keep going. Every star saves straight away, so there's no save button to remember.

Your email is how your photographer knows the list is yours. It also means you can carry on from another device later, as long as you use the same email.

See what you've picked

A small label near the bottom of the screen shows the list you're adding to and how many photos are in it. Tap it, or tap Collections at the top of the gallery, to open Your selections.

From there you can look through your picks, remove a photo you've changed your mind about with Remove photo, or tap Browse photos to go back to the gallery.

Keep more than one list

You might want one list for the album, one for prints and one for photos to send your parents.

  1. Open Your selections.
  2. Tap New collection, give it a name and tap Create collection.
  3. To switch which list your stars go into, tap Select next to it.

Your photographer may already have set up lists for you, with a short note on what each is for and sometimes a number to pick, like "12 of 30 photos". If a list has a limit, you'll be told when it's full.

Add notes

If your photographer has turned notes on, you can leave notes in two places:

  • On a single photo in your list, with Add photo note. Handy for things like "Could this one be black and white?".
  • On the list as a whole, for anything that applies to all your picks, like "These are for the parents' album".

Your photographer sees every note alongside your photos.

Send your list to your photographer

  1. Open the list in Your selections.
  2. Tap Send to photographer. You'll also find Review and send in the full-page view.
  3. Add a message if you like, then tap Send.

Some lists lock once they're sent, so they can't be changed. The send box tells you if yours will ("You won't be able to change this collection after sending."), and a locked list shows "This collection is locked after sending." If you need changes after that, ask your photographer.

If your list doesn't lock, you can keep editing and tap Send update to send the new version.

If there's no send button at all, your photographer can already see your list. Just let them know you're finished.

Hiding photos from guests

If your photographer allows it and you came in with Client access, you'll see an eye icon on each photo (on a phone, open the photo first). Tapping it hides that photo from anyone viewing as a guest. You'll still see it, and so will your photographer. It's handy for keeping a few personal shots out of the version your family sees.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to save my favorites?

No. Every star saves the moment you tap it.

Can I pick favorites on my phone and finish on my laptop?

Yes. Use the same email on both and your lists follow you.

Can I favorite videos?

No, favorites are for photos only. Mention any videos you love in your message to your photographer.

I sent my list too early. Can I change it?

If the list isn't locked, edit it and tap Send update. If it's locked, ask your photographer to open it up again.

Is there a limit on how many photos I can pick?

Only if your photographer set one for a particular list. You'll see it written as something like "12 of 30 photos".
