Creating a client gallery

Creating a client gallery in CoreHue takes one step: give it a name. CoreHue sets up the first chapter, sensible download settings and a download PIN for you, so you can go straight to uploading.

  1. Choose Galleries in the sidebar, then New gallery. On desktop you can also hover Galleries in the sidebar and click the +, or use New gallery in the quick actions on your home screen.
  2. Type a Gallery name, like Sarah & James Wedding. This is what your client sees on the cover.
  3. Add an Event date if you want one. It's optional, and when it's set it appears on the cover under the gallery name.
  4. Choose Create gallery.

The gallery opens on its Chapters tab, ready for photos. Head to Uploading photos to a gallery next.

When a gallery is for a particular client, start from their contact page. The gallery is linked to them from the beginning, so they're suggested first when you share it, and it shows on their Galleries tab.

  1. Open the contact from Contacts.
  2. Open More actions and choose Create gallery. If the contact has no galleries yet, the Create gallery button on their Galleries tab does the same thing.
  3. The New gallery dialog notes which contact the gallery will be linked to. Fill in the name and date, then choose Create gallery.

Linking a contact doesn't send them anything or give them access on its own. Linking a gallery to your contacts explains what it does.

You can change all of these later. They're set up so a gallery works well the moment you publish it.

Your client needs that PIN to download

Because every new gallery has a download PIN, your client is asked for it before anything downloads. Tick Download PIN under Include in email when you share the gallery, or turn the PIN off. See Using a download PIN.

On the Free plan, clients download web sizes only, even though Original is ticked. The setting comes back into play when you upgrade. See Download sizes explained.

Choose the pencil (Edit gallery) next to the gallery name in the header, or Edit on the gallery's card in your gallery list. The same dialog lets you change the event date.

Renaming doesn't change the gallery's web address, so links you've already sent keep working. If you do want a new address, see Changing a gallery's web address.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. A new gallery starts as a draft that's invisible to everyone but you, so you can create it, link your client and choose the design ahead of time, then upload once you've edited.

Only when you create it. CoreHue makes the gallery's web address from its name at the start. Renaming the gallery later leaves the address as it was, which keeps old links working.

Every new CoreHue gallery gets a 4-digit download PIN by default, so only people you've given the PIN to can download. Share the PIN with your client, or switch it off in Settings → Downloads if you'd rather not use one.

Yes. One gallery can be linked to up to 10 contacts in Settings → Details, which is handy for couples or families.
