# Deleting a gallery

> Permanently delete a CoreHue gallery to free up storage. What gets removed, what your client sees afterwards, and when taking it offline is the better choice.

Deleting a gallery removes it and everything in it for good, and frees the storage it was using. If you think you might need it again, taking it offline is often the better choice.

> **Deleting a gallery can't be undone**
There's no bin for galleries. Once you confirm, the photos, videos and settings are gone, and your client's link stops working. Keep your own copies of the files somewhere outside CoreHue.

## Delete a gallery

1. Open the gallery and choose **⋯** in the header, then **Delete gallery**. You can also open the gallery card's menu on your gallery list and choose **Delete gallery**.
2. Read the confirmation. It shows how many photos will be removed.
3. Choose **Delete gallery**.

## What deleting a gallery removes

- Every photo and video in the gallery, and its uploaded cover
- All its chapters and settings, including passwords, download settings and design
- Its favorites, download history and other activity
- The gallery's link, which shows a page saying it isn't available

The storage those photos used is freed straight away, and the gallery's videos stop counting toward your plan.

## What stays after you delete a gallery

- **Copies in other galleries.** If you copied photos into another gallery, those copies stay where they are.
- **Your contacts.** Linked contacts aren't touched. The gallery just disappears from their **Galleries** tab.
- **Everything else in CoreHue.** Bookings, invoices, contracts and messages aren't affected.

CoreHue doesn't email your client when you delete a gallery. If they open an old link, they'll see that it isn't available.

## Take it offline instead

If you might want the gallery again, **unlist** it instead. The link stops working, but everything is kept and you can publish it again at any time. Unlisted galleries still count toward your storage. See [Draft, published and unlisted galleries](/docs/galleries/gallery-statuses) and [Setting a gallery expiry date](/docs/galleries/gallery-expiry-dates).

## Delete some photos instead

To free up space without losing the whole delivery, delete the photos or chapters you don't need, like rejects or a duplicate highlights chapter. See [Moving, copying and deleting photos](/docs/galleries/moving-copying-and-deleting-photos).

## Freeing up storage

Deleting galleries clients no longer use is usually the quickest way back under your storage limit. To see how much a gallery takes up before you delete it, check **Gallery size** in **Settings → Details**. Your total usage is in **Settings → Billing**. See [How storage works for photos and videos](/docs/plans-and-billing/how-storage-works).

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I get a deleted gallery back?

No. Deleting a CoreHue gallery is permanent and there's no bin to restore from, so make sure you have the files saved elsewhere first.

### Does deleting a gallery free up storage straight away?

Yes. A deleted gallery's photos stop counting toward your storage as soon as you delete it, and its videos stop counting toward your video time.

### Will my client be told?

No. CoreHue doesn't email your client when you delete a gallery. Their link just stops working and shows a page saying it isn't available.

### What's the difference between deleting and unlisting?

Unlisting a gallery takes it offline but keeps everything, so it still uses storage. Deleting a gallery removes it for good and frees the space.
