Moving, copying and deleting photos

You can move or copy photos anywhere in your account, one at a time or hundreds at once. It's how you split one big upload into chapters, or put the same portraits in both a client's gallery and a highlights gallery.

Move or copy one photo

  1. Hover over the photo and open its ⋯ menu.
  2. Choose Move to… or Copy to….
  3. Pick a chapter. If the one you want doesn't exist yet, choose New chapter and create it right there.
  4. Choose Move or Copy.

To send the photo to a different gallery, click the arrow at the top left of the dialog to see all your galleries. Pick one, choose Next, then pick the chapter.

Move or copy several photos

  1. Select the photos. Click the box in a photo's top-left corner, Shift-click or Cmd-click to add more, or drag a box across them on a computer.
  2. Use the move or copy button in the bar at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Pick the chapter, or another gallery, and confirm.

On a computer you can also drag selected photos straight onto a chapter's name in the sidebar to move them there. See Reordering and sorting photos for more on selecting.

Move or copy: which one?

If a photo is already in the chapter you're copying to, CoreHue skips it rather than adding a duplicate.

Videos can be moved to another chapter or gallery, but not copied. See Renaming, moving and deleting videos.

Delete photos

  1. Open a photo's ⋯ menu and choose Delete, or select several photos and use delete in the bar at the bottom.
  2. Confirm. The dialog tells you how many photos are going.
Deleted photos are gone for good

There's no bin for gallery photos. Once you confirm, the photos are permanently deleted and the link to them stops working for your client. Keep your originals somewhere safe outside CoreHue.

Deleting frees the storage those photos were using straight away. To remove a whole set at once, you can delete its chapter. See Organizing photos into chapters.

When moving is blocked

If your account is over its storage limit, moving and copying photos is paused in every gallery until you're back under. Delete photos you don't need or upgrade, and it starts working again. See When you're over your storage limit.

What your client sees

Moved photos appear in their new chapter, and deleted photos disappear from the gallery. If the gallery is published, those changes show up for your client straight away, so it's best to do a big reshuffle before you send the link.

Frequently asked questions

Does copying a photo use more storage?

Yes. Each copy of a photo counts toward your storage, the same as uploading it again. Moving a photo doesn't change your storage.

Yes. You can move photos into a different gallery: in the move or copy dialog, click the arrow at the top left, pick the gallery, choose Next, then pick a chapter.

Can I get a deleted photo back?

No. Deleting a gallery photo is permanent. If you still have the file, you can upload it again.

Why can't I copy a video?

Gallery videos can only be moved, not copied. Move the video to where you need it, or upload it again in the other gallery.
