# Previewing your gallery

> See your CoreHue gallery the way your client will before you send it. Use Preview, the mobile preview and a private browser window to test passwords.

Previewing a gallery before you send it catches the little things: a cover that crops awkwardly on a phone, a chapter in the wrong place, a PIN you forgot to include. CoreHue gives you a few ways to preview, depending on what you want to test.

## Open the real gallery with Preview

Choose **Preview** in the gallery header. On a phone, it's in the **⋯** menu. The real gallery opens in a new tab with a slim bar across the top: "You're viewing this gallery as the owner".

Preview works whatever the gallery's status, so you can check a draft, an unlisted gallery or one that's past its expiry date. Nobody else can see it while it's in those states.

## What's different when you preview as the owner

Because CoreHue knows it's you, a few things work differently:

- **No access screen.** You skip the password, client password and email screens.
- **You see it as your client.** Chapters marked client-only are shown, as they would be for someone who came in with the client password.
- **Hidden chapters stay hidden.** Chapters you've hidden under **Chapter visibility** don't appear for anyone in the public gallery, including you.

Everything else, like the design, chapters, videos, slideshow and download options, is exactly what visitors get.

## Check the design on desktop and mobile

On the **Layout** tab, the live preview beside the design controls has **Desktop preview** and **Mobile preview** buttons underneath. It's worth switching to mobile before you publish. Most clients open their gallery on a phone, and a cover that looks great on a laptop can crop very differently on a narrow screen.

The live preview appears on wider screens only. On a phone, use **Preview** instead.

## Test what your client and their guests see

To see the access screen, the passwords and the download PIN the way a visitor does, open the gallery link somewhere you're not signed in to CoreHue:

1. Publish the gallery, then copy its link from **Share** or **Settings → Sharing**.
2. Open a private or incognito window in your browser, or use a phone where you're not signed in.
3. Paste the link and go through it as your client would. If **Client access** is on, try both **Client access** and **Guest access**.

## A quick checklist before you send

- The cover looks good on a phone, with faces in frame.
- The first row of the first chapter is your strongest work.
- Chapters are in the right order, and anything you're holding back is hidden.
- A test download works, with the PIN if you're using one.
- Passwords work for both client and guest access, if you've set them.
- Videos play, if the gallery has any.

When it all looks right, [publish and share it](/docs/gallery-sharing/publishing-a-gallery). For a full tour of the client side, see [What your client sees in their gallery](/docs/galleries/what-your-client-sees).

## Frequently asked questions

### Why doesn't Preview ask me for the password?

**Preview** skips the password because you're signed in as the gallery's owner, so CoreHue lets you straight in. Open the link in a private window to see the password screen.

### Can my client see a draft while I'm previewing it?

No. Only you can open a draft or unlisted gallery, even while you're previewing it. Until you publish, your client sees "This page isn't available".

### Why is a chapter missing when I preview?

A chapter missing from **Preview** is probably hidden under **Settings → Sharing → Chapter visibility**. Hidden chapters stay out of the public gallery for everyone, including you.

### Can I test the Gallery Guide?

Yes. The Gallery Guide appears the first time a browser opens the gallery, so open the link in a fresh private window to see it again.
