# Uploading RAW files

> Upload camera RAW files straight to a CoreHue client gallery on the Pro plan. Supported formats, how to turn RAW uploads on, and what your client sees.

Some clients need the RAW files: a brand with its own retoucher, a lead photographer collecting a second shooter's work, or anyone who has paid for the unedited files. On Pro you can upload RAW files to any gallery, and CoreHue makes viewing images from them so they browse like any other photo.

> **Available on Pro**
RAW image uploads are included on the Pro plan. See [Choosing between Free, Plus and Pro](/docs/plans-and-billing/choosing-a-plan).

## Turn on RAW uploads

RAW uploads are off until you switch them on, so nobody drops a card's worth of RAW files into a gallery by accident.

1. Open **Settings** and go to **Business**.
2. Find **RAW image uploads** and turn the switch on.
3. Choose **Save** in the bar at the bottom of the screen.

Below Pro, the switch is greyed out with a link to upgrade.

## Supported RAW formats

| Extension | Usually from |
| --- | --- |
| DNG | Adobe DNG, plus many cameras and phones |
| NEF | Nikon |
| ARW | Sony |
| CR2, CR3 | Canon |
| RAF | Fujifilm |
| RAW, RW2 | Panasonic |
| PEF | Pentax |
| ORF | Olympus and OM System |

Each RAW file can be up to **100 MB**, the same as a JPEG.

These RAW formats aren't supported: 3FR, CRW, FFF, IIQ, MOS, MRW, NRW, RWL, SRW and X3F. CoreHue shows "That RAW image format is not supported." If you need to deliver one of these, convert it to DNG first or export a JPEG.

## Upload RAW files

Upload them exactly like photos: drop them onto a chapter or choose **Add media**. You can mix RAW files and JPEGs in the same chapter. See [Uploading photos to a gallery](/docs/galleries/uploading-photos).

If something's not set up, CoreHue tells you:

- "RAW image uploads are available on Pro." means your plan doesn't include RAW. **See plans** takes you to the plans page.
- "Turn on RAW image uploads in Business settings." means you're on Pro but the switch is off. **Open settings** takes you there.

## What your client sees

Each RAW file appears in the grid, full screen and in the slideshow like any other photo. A RAW file is unedited, so your client sees it the way it came off the camera, not the way you edited it.

What they download depends on your [download sizes](/docs/gallery-downloads/download-sizes):

- **Original** gives them the original file you uploaded, which is the RAW file itself.
- The web sizes give them a regular image they can open anywhere.

Most people can't open RAW files without editing software. If you're delivering RAW to someone who isn't a photographer or retoucher, tell them what they're getting, or offer web sizes alongside.

## RAW files and storage

RAW files count toward your gallery storage like any photo, and they're usually several times larger than a JPEG of the same image. A big RAW delivery can use a lot of space quickly, so check **Gallery size** in **Settings → Details** after uploading. See [How storage works for photos and videos](/docs/plans-and-billing/how-storage-works).

## If you move off Pro

RAW files you've already uploaded stay in your galleries. You just can't add new ones until you're back on Pro. See [Moving to a smaller plan](/docs/plans-and-billing/moving-to-a-smaller-plan).

## Frequently asked questions

### Does the free trial include RAW uploads?

No. The CoreHue free trial is a trial of the Plus plan, and RAW uploads are a Pro feature. You can upgrade to Pro at any time from the plans page.

### Will my Lightroom edits show on the RAW file?

No. A RAW file uploads without your edits, because Lightroom and Capture One keep your edits separately from the RAW file, so the uploaded file shows unedited. Export a JPEG for anything you want your client to see edited.

### Can I put RAW files and JPEGs in the same gallery?

Yes. A common setup is a chapter of edited JPEGs for viewing and a separate chapter of RAW files, with downloads turned on only where you need them. See [Allowing downloads for some chapters only](/docs/gallery-downloads/downloads-by-chapter).

### Why was my RAW file rejected?

CoreHue turns a RAW file away when RAW uploads aren't switched on, your plan isn't Pro, the format isn't on the supported list, or the file is over 100 MB. The message CoreHue shows tells you which.
