Your client might be happy for family to see the wedding gallery, but not the shot of them crying in the car or the one where Uncle Dave isn't looking his best. **Let clients hide photos** lets your client tuck those away from guests without asking you, while they can still see and download them.

## How hiding photos works

Hiding is part of [client access](/docs/gallery-sharing/client-access-and-private-passwords), which gives your client a private password separate from anything you share with guests. When someone opens the gallery, they choose **Client access** or **Guest access**:

- Your client, coming in with their client password, sees every photo, including the ones they've hidden.
- Guests, coming in through **Guest access**, don't see hidden photos at all.
- You always see everything.

So it only makes sense when your client and their guests come in through different doors.

## Turn on Let clients hide photos

1. Open the gallery and go to **Settings → Access**.
2. Turn on **Client access**. CoreHue makes a client password for you.
3. Check that **Let clients hide photos** is on ("Hidden photos stay visible to the contact only."). It switches on with Client access.
4. Click **Save**.

Send your client their client password so they can use it. The **Share gallery** composer can include it: tick **Client password** under **Include in email**.

## What your client sees

When your client is signed in with their client password, each photo gets an eye button. Tapping it asks **Hide this photo?**, with an option to skip that question next time. Hidden photos stay in their view, marked as hidden, and tapping the eye again brings a photo back for guests.

Guests never see the eye button or the hidden photos.

## See what's been hidden

Open the gallery's **Activity** tab and choose **Private Photos**. It lists every hidden photo with its chapter and the date it was marked, under "Marked private by your client."

The list is empty until **Client access** and **Let clients hide photos** are both on.

To hear about it when it happens, turn on the **Private photos** notification under **Settings → Notifications → Galleries**. It shows in the app by default, but email is off until you turn it on.

## Hiding vs your own privacy tools

This is a tool for your client. You can't hide a single photo from your client yourself. If you don't want someone to see a photo, use one of these instead:

- [Hide a chapter](/docs/gallery-sharing/hiding-chapters) from everyone but you.
- Make a chapter [client-only](/docs/gallery-sharing/client-only-chapters), so guests never see it.
- Remove the photo from the gallery.

Videos can't be hidden this way. Put a video in a client-only chapter if only your client should see it.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does hiding work without a gallery password?

Yes. Photo hiding works without a gallery password. Guests can open the gallery without a password if you haven't set one, and they still won't see hidden photos. Your client has to come in with **Client access** to hide photos or see the hidden ones.

### Can my client hide photos from me?

No. Your client can't hide photos from you. You always see every photo, and hidden ones are listed under **Activity → Private Photos**.

### Why don't I see the eye button when I preview?

The hide (eye) button only appears for someone who came in through **Client access**, and **Preview** skips the access screen. Open the gallery with the client password to see it as your client does.
