Giving your client private access

Your client and their guests don't always need to see the same thing. With Client access, your client gets a private password that's theirs alone. Coming in with it shows them anything you've kept just for them, and lets them hide photos from guests if you allow it.

There's no account involved, just a second password that belongs to your client.

Turn on client access

  1. Open the gallery and go to Settings → Access.
  2. Turn on Client access ("Private password for your client.").
  3. CoreHue creates a Client password for you. Keep it, type your own, or click the wand to generate a new one.
  4. Choose which chapters are Client-only chapters, if any. These switches save as soon as you flip them.
  5. Turn on Let clients hide photos if you want your client to be able to hide photos from guests.
  6. Click Save.

Then send your client their password. Tick Client password under Include in email when you share, or copy it from the Share dialog. If you're emailing family or a planner at the same time, send the client password to your client separately.

Client access vs guest access

With client access on, the first thing a visitor sees is a choice: Client access or Guest access.

If you've also turned on email registration, both are asked for their email too. On the gallery's Activity → Email Registration list, people who came in through Client access show as Contact and everyone else as Guest.

Set a gallery password too if the gallery must be private

Client access doesn't stop guests getting in. Without a gallery password, anyone with the link can choose Guest access and walk straight in. That's fine when only the client-only chapters are sensitive. If the whole gallery should be private, turn on Gallery password as well. See Password-protecting a gallery.

A typical wedding setup

  • Gallery password for the couple to share with family and friends.
  • Client access for the couple, with a different password.
  • Client-only chapters for getting ready, private portraits or anything the couple might not want their whole family scrolling through.
  • Let clients hide photos so the couple can tuck away a few shots from the guest view themselves.

Guests get a lovely gallery. The couple gets everything.

What your client sees

Your client opens the link and picks Client access. They enter their client password (and their email, if you asked for it) and press Enter. The gallery opens with every chapter, including the ones you kept for them. If you allowed it, an eye icon on each photo lets them hide it from guests. They stay signed in on that device for 7 days.

Frequently asked questions

Does my client need to create an account?

No. Client access is just a private password, so your client never signs up for anything.

What happens if my client picks Guest access by mistake?

A client who picks Guest access sees the gallery as a guest, without the client-only chapters. They can tap Log out in the gallery's action bar (it appears once they've given an email), or open the link in a private browser window, and choose Client access this time.

Can I see which photos my client hid?

Yes. Photos your client hid are listed under Activity → Private Photos. Hidden photos stay visible to you and your client. See Letting clients hide photos.

What happens to client-only chapters if I turn client access off?

Client-only chapters stay hidden from visitors when you turn client access off. With client access off, nobody new can come in as your client, so those chapters won't show to visitors. If you want everyone to see them, switch them off under Client-only chapters before you turn client access off.
