# Unlisting a gallery to take it offline

> Unlist a CoreHue gallery to take it offline without deleting anything. What clients see while it's unlisted and how to publish it again in one click.

When a gallery has done its job, or you need to pull it while you fix something, unlist it. The link stops working for everyone, but every photo, setting and favorites list stays exactly where it is. Publish it again and it's back as if nothing happened.

## Unlist a gallery

1. Open the gallery.
2. Click the status badge beside the gallery name (it says **Published**).
3. Choose **Unlist**.

You'll see "Gallery unlisted" and the badge changes to **Unlisted**. You can also unlist from the Galleries list: open the gallery's **⋯** menu and choose **Unlist**.

While a gallery is unlisted, the **Share** button is greyed out ("Publish the gallery first to share it."), and the gallery card shows an **Unlisted** badge.

## What unlisting does

**Unlisted means offline.** On many websites "unlisted" means hidden but still reachable by link. In CoreHue it doesn't: nobody can open an unlisted gallery, even with the link.

| | Published | Unlisted |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Link works | Yes | No |
| Visitors see | Your gallery | "This page isn't available" |
| Photos, videos, settings | Kept | Kept |
| Favorites, downloads activity | Kept | Kept |
| Counts toward storage | Yes | Yes |

If you only want to hide part of a gallery, hide those chapters instead and leave the gallery live. See [Hiding chapters from visitors](/docs/gallery-sharing/hiding-chapters).

## Publish it again

1. Click the status badge beside the gallery name (it says **Unlisted**).
2. Choose **Publish**.

The gallery goes live straight away with the same link, and you'll see "Gallery published". There's no confirmation step after the first publish. If you'd set an [expiry date](/docs/galleries/gallery-expiry-dates) that has already passed, publishing clears it so the gallery doesn't drop offline again the next day.

A gallery never goes back to being a draft. Once published, it's always either **Published** or **Unlisted**.

## Galleries that unlist themselves

If you set an **Auto expiry** date under **Settings → Sharing**, the gallery takes itself offline on that date. Visitors first see "This gallery has expired" with a note to contact you, and shortly after, the gallery moves to **Unlisted**. Republishing works the same way. See [Setting a gallery expiry date](/docs/galleries/gallery-expiry-dates).

## What your client sees

Anyone who opens the link while the gallery is unlisted sees "This page isn't available" and a note that the link may be incorrect or the page removed. They aren't told it's been unlisted. If you're unlisting a gallery a client still needs, let them know first, and remind them to download what they want to keep.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does unlisting delete anything?

No. Unlisting a gallery keeps its photos, videos, chapters, settings, favorites and activity. Only the link stops working.

### Does an unlisted gallery still use storage?

Yes. An unlisted gallery still uses storage, because unlisting doesn't free up space. To get storage back, delete photos or the gallery itself. See [Deleting a gallery](/docs/galleries/deleting-a-gallery).

### Can I keep a gallery live but away from strangers?

Yes. CoreHue doesn't list your galleries anywhere, so people reach a gallery through its link. If that link could end up somewhere public, like a social post, add a gallery password so a stranger who finds it still can't get in. See [Password-protecting a gallery](/docs/gallery-sharing/password-protecting-a-gallery).

### My client says the link stopped working. Is it unlisted?

It might be. Check the status badge first, then the **Auto expiry** date under **Settings → Sharing**. Those two explain most links that worked and then stopped. See [My client can't open their gallery](/docs/troubleshooting/client-cant-open-gallery).
