Restricted gallery videos

A video becomes Restricted when your account is keeping more video than your plan includes. Restricted videos are hidden from your clients but kept for 30 days, so you have time to sort it out. Get back within your limit and they reappear on their own, with nothing to re-upload.

Available on Plus and Pro

Gallery video is included on the Plus and Pro plans. See CoreHue plans.

Why videos become restricted

  • Your account moved to Free. Free doesn't include video, so every video is restricted. This happens when a trial ends without a plan, a subscription is cancelled, or a renewal payment fails for good.
  • You moved from Pro to Plus while keeping more than 1 hour of video.
  • A single video is longer than your plan allows, for example a 90-minute film after moving from Pro to Plus, where the longest video is 1 hour.
  • A video turned out longer than the time you had left. If processing measures a video as longer than the time your plan had free, it's restricted as soon as it's ready.

When you're over the total, CoreHue restricts your oldest videos first and keeps going until the newest ones that remain fit your plan. On Free, everything is restricted.

What your client sees

Nothing alarming. A restricted video just isn't in the gallery any more, and its video link shows an unavailable page. The gallery itself stays live, and its photos aren't affected at all.

What you see in your dashboard

  • A Restricted label on the video's card, with the deletion date underneath ("Deleted" and the date).
  • A Video restricted or "3 videos restricted" badge on the gallery's card in your Galleries list.
  • A Restricted tab on the Galleries list, showing every gallery with a restricted video or a restricted gallery.
  • A notice above the gallery list with your video usage, your plan's allowance and the deletion date.

You can still play a restricted video from your dashboard, and you can delete it. The player shows "Restricted. Deleted" with the date "unless you are back within your video limit." You can't share or download it, and nobody else can watch it.

The 30-day clock

Restricted videos are kept for 30 full days. If you're still over your limit after that, they're permanently deleted at midnight at the start of day 31, in your time zone. Deleted videos can't be recovered.

CoreHue emails you along the way:

  • When videos are first restricted: "You're over your video limit" (or "Video isn't included in your plan" if you're on Free).
  • Reminders 14, 7, 3 and 1 days before, such as "Restricted videos will be deleted tomorrow".
  • After deletion: "We've deleted your restricted videos".

While you're over your limit, new video uploads are turned away.

Getting your videos back

Either of these works, and restrictions lift as soon as your videos fit:

  1. Upgrade. Moving from Free to Plus or Pro, or from Plus to Pro, gives you more video time. See Upgrading your plan.
  2. Delete videos you don't need. Your total comes down straight away. Because the oldest videos are restricted first, deleting a newer video can bring an older one back.

Restored videos come back exactly as they were, in the same chapter with the same title and thumbnail. If you moved from Pro to Plus, videos you keep play at HD. Move back to Pro before they're deleted and they play in 4K again.

Moving to Plus isn't blocked by video

When you switch from Pro to Plus, CoreHue checks your photo storage and published services first, but not video. If you have more than 1 hour of video, the switch goes ahead and your oldest videos are restricted. Check Settings → Billing → Usage before you switch.

Over your photo storage too? That works the same way but separately, gallery by gallery. See When you're over your storage limit.

Frequently asked questions

Will my photos be deleted if my videos are restricted?

No. Video restrictions only ever touch videos. A gallery with restricted videos stays live with all its photos.

Can I choose which videos get restricted?

No, not directly. CoreHue always restricts the oldest videos first. You can control the outcome by deleting the videos you don't need, which lets the ones you want to keep fit.

Do I need to upload the videos again after upgrading?

No. As long as they haven't been deleted, restricted videos reappear on their own after you upgrade as soon as you're within your limit.

Do restricted videos still count toward my video time?

Yes. Restricted videos count toward your total video time until they're deleted. That's why deleting videos can lift a restriction.

My account moved to Free by mistake. What happens to my videos?

Every gallery video is restricted on the Free plan, but kept for 30 days. Choose a plan from Settings → Billing within that time and they come back. See When a subscription payment fails.
