Delivering video in your galleries

Your highlight film, a teaser or a behind-the-scenes clip can live in the same gallery as the photos. Your client opens one link, watches the film at the top of the chapter, and scrolls straight into the photos below it.

Available on Plus and Pro

Gallery video is included on the Plus and Pro plans. See CoreHue plans.

Upload a video

  1. Open the gallery and pick the chapter the video belongs in.
  2. Click Add media in the chapter toolbar (on a phone it's the + button), or drag your files onto the chapter.
  3. Choose your videos. You can pick photos and videos in the same go.
  4. Keep CoreHue open while the upload panel shows progress. When a video's row reads Uploaded, the file has reached us.
  5. The video's card shows Processing while CoreHue prepares it for streaming. When it's ready, the card shows a thumbnail, a play button and the running time.

An empty chapter on Plus or Pro says Drop photos and videos here with an Add photos and videos button. Both lead to the same picker.

Videos go through the same upload panel as photos, with the same Uploading, Completed and Failed tabs, retry buttons and Cancel upload. Once a row says Uploaded you can close the tab: processing happens on our side.

When a video is turned away

CoreHue checks each video before it uploads. Anything that doesn't fit is skipped, the rest of your batch carries on, and a message tells you why.

What happenedMessage you'll seeUpload panel

Where videos sit in a chapter

Each chapter keeps its videos in a Videos section above the photos. When a chapter has both, you'll see a Videos heading and a Photos heading so it's clear which is which. The chapter title shows both counts, like "65 photos, 2 videos", and the gallery's card on your Galleries list shows a video count next to the photo count.

The Sort photos menu only orders photos. Videos stay in the order you drag them into. See Renaming, moving and deleting videos.

What your client sees

Your client sees the chapter's videos as large cards in a band above the photos, each with a play button and its running time. Clicking one opens a full-screen player. The whole experience is in How your clients watch videos.

There's no separate publish switch for a video. It's visible whenever the gallery is published, and it follows the chapter's rules: a video in a hidden chapter stays hidden, and a video in a client-only chapter shows only to your client. Videos waiting on processing never appear for clients.

The Layout preview shows photos only

The live preview on the Layout tab leaves videos out so you can judge the design. Use Preview in the gallery header to see the gallery with its videos, the way your client will.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add videos on the Free plan?

No. Gallery video is part of the Plus and Pro plans. On Free the button reads Add photos, and any video you drop in is skipped with "Video uploads are available on Plus and Pro."

Do videos use up my photo storage?

No. Gallery videos are measured in hours, separately from the gigabytes your photos use. See How storage works for photos and videos.

Can I put the same video in two chapters?

No. A gallery video lives in one chapter at a time. You can move it to another chapter or another gallery, but it can't be copied.

No. CoreHue galleries don't embed YouTube or Vimeo links. You upload the file and CoreHue hosts and plays it for you, so your client never leaves your gallery or sees someone else's branding.

Can I close the tab while a video is processing?

Yes, once the video's row in the upload panel says Uploaded, because processing carries on without you. If you close the tab while it's still uploading, the upload stops and you'll need to add the video again.
