Video limits by plan

Every gallery video limit in CoreHue, in one place. Video is measured by running time, not file size, so a 10-minute film counts as 10 minutes whether you export it at 2 GB or 12 GB.

Available on Plus and Pro

Gallery video is included on the Plus and Pro plans. See CoreHue plans.

How video time is counted

Total video is the combined running time of every video you're keeping, across all your galleries. That includes:

  • Videos that are ready and playing.
  • Videos still processing.
  • Videos currently uploading (their time is set aside while they upload).
  • Restricted gallery videos, until they're deleted.

A video that fails to process doesn't count. Deleting a video gives its time back straight away.

Monthly uploads add up the running time of everything you upload in a calendar month, counted in UTC. Videos you upload and then delete in the same month still count toward that month, so deleting and re-uploading the same film twice uses its time twice. The count starts again on the first of each month.

The monthly limit is there to stop runaway re-uploading, not to ration normal work: it's twice your plan's total, so you can replace your whole video library within a month and still have room.

What happens at each limit

When you reachWhat happensWhat to do
Your total video timeNew videos are skipped with "Video storage full. Upgrade or delete videos to upload more."Delete videos you no longer need, or upgrade from Plus to Pro
The longest single videoThat video is skipped with "That video is longer than your plan allows."Trim it, split it into parts, or upgrade to Pro for videos up to 2 hours
Your monthly upload limitNew videos are skipped with "You've reached this month's video upload limit."Wait for the first of the month, or contact us if you need more
20 GB for one fileThat file is skipped with "Each video must be under 20 GB."Export a smaller file. See Video formats and export settings

Photos in the same batch upload as normal. Only the videos that don't fit are skipped.

Checking how much you've used

Go to Settings → Billing and look under Usage. The Gallery video row shows how much time you're using against your plan's total, and turns amber once you pass 90%. See Your billing page.

If your plan changes

As soon as your move from Plus to Pro takes effect, you get 4 hours, 2-hour videos and 4K for new uploads. See Upgrading your plan for when that happens.

Moving down is where video needs a little care:

  • Pro to Plus: if you're keeping more than 1 hour of video, or any single video is longer than 1 hour, CoreHue restricts videos, oldest first, until the rest fit. Videos you keep play at HD from then on.
  • Any plan to Free: Free has no video, so every video is restricted.

A restricted video disappears from your client's gallery and is deleted after 30 days unless you get back within your limit. Your photos aren't affected. The full story is in Restricted gallery videos.

Frequently asked questions

Does a 4K video use more of my allowance than an HD one?

No. Only running time counts toward your video allowance. A 5-minute 4K film and a 5-minute HD film both use 5 minutes.

Do restricted videos count toward my limit?

Yes. Restricted videos count toward your total video time until they're deleted. That's why deleting videos you don't need is one way to lift a restriction.

Can I buy extra video hours?

No, not at the moment. CoreHue doesn't sell extra video hours. If you need more than Plus includes, Pro gives you 4 hours. If you need more than that, contact us.

When does my monthly upload limit reset?

The monthly video upload limit resets at the start of each calendar month, in UTC. Your total video time doesn't reset: that only goes down when you delete videos.

Does video count toward my 150 GB or 1 TB?

No. Gallery video is measured in hours and never touches your 150 GB (Plus) or 1 TB (Pro) of photo storage. Video thumbnails you upload don't count either.
