Sending an invoice
Send the invoice by email with a personal note, or copy its link and send it however you already talk to your client. Either way they get the same page with everything they need to pay.
Emailing an invoice
- Open the invoice and choose Send invoice.
- Check the subject and message. The invoice's contact is the recipient, and a live preview shows the email beside the editor.
- Leave Attach PDF ticked if you'd like a PDF copy in the email. Tick Send a copy to me for one in your own inbox.
- Choose Send.
You'll see "Invoice sent", and the invoice moves from Draft to Open.
Use a saved email template if you send similar notes often, and drop in your client's first name with the Variables menu so it reads naturally.
What your client receives
An email headed "Your invoice is ready" with your message, a summary panel and a View invoice button. The summary leads with the figure that matters right now:
| Situation | Big figure | Also shows |
|---|---|---|
| Single payment | Amount due | Due date |
| Payment schedule | Next payment | Due date, plus Invoice total and Total outstanding |
| Something is late | Amount overdue | Was due, or how many payments are overdue |
Opening the invoice shows your business details, the items, tax, discount, total, what's due and how to pay. No sign-in, nothing to create.
Sharing a link instead
Prefer WhatsApp or text? Choose Share with link at the top of the composer. CoreHue confirms first, then marks the invoice as sent without emailing anything and opens the link for you to copy.
On an invoice that's already been sent, Share opens Share invoice with the Invoice link ready to copy. Choosing Share on a draft asks you to mark it as sent first.
Sending again
Once an invoice has gone out, the main button reads Resend invoice. It sends the same invoice again, with the same number and amounts, which is exactly what you want when a client has lost the email.
Before resending, check Email history in the three-dot menu. If the first email bounced, resending to the same address will fail the same way. Fix the address on the contact first. See My client didn't get my email.
If the contact has no email address
The composer stops and asks you to add an address or share the link instead. An invoice always needs a contact, but it only needs an email address if you're emailing it.
Before you send
- Check the due date. Without one, the invoice never turns overdue and reminders can't be scheduled.
- Check the payment methods. With none ticked, your client can read the invoice but can't pay it.
- Preview it. It's the quickest way to catch the wrong contact or a missing line.
Reminders after sending
On Plus and Pro, the send screen tells you whether automatic reminders are on, with a link to review the schedule. Once the invoice is out, a Reminders menu in its header shows what's coming and lets you Send reminder, Pause or Resume. See Automatic invoice reminders.
Frequently asked questions
Does my client need an account to pay?
No. Your client opens the invoice from the email or link and pays right there, on any device, without creating a CoreHue account.
Can I send an invoice to more than one person?
The invoice email goes to the invoice's contact only. To get it to someone else too, like a partner or a company's accounts team, copy the invoice link and pass it on, or tick Send a copy to me and forward your copy.
Does resending create a new invoice?
No. Resend invoice sends the same invoice again. The invoice number, amounts and link don't change.
My client says they never got the invoice. What now?
Check Email history in the invoice's three-dot menu to see if the email was delivered. If it was, ask them to check spam, or copy the invoice link and send it by text or WhatsApp.
