Replying from your own email app

You won't always be in CoreHue when a client writes. You'll be on your phone, in your usual mail app, and you'll just hit reply. That's fine: your client gets your answer, and CoreHue still saves it to the right conversation.

Available on Plus and Pro

Replying from your own email app is part of client messaging on the Plus and Pro plans. On Free, replies to your CoreHue emails bounce instead of reaching the conversation. See Messages on the Free plan.

How it works

  1. Your client replies to an email you sent from CoreHue.
  2. Their message lands in the CoreHue thread, and a copy arrives in your own inbox. It reads like a normal email from them.
  3. Reply to that copy from whatever mail app you're using.
  4. Your reply goes to your client and also appears in the CoreHue thread, marked via email.

There's nothing to set up. Reply to the copy CoreHue sent you, and your answer goes where it should. It shows on the contact's Messages tab like everything else.

Reply from your sign-in email

CoreHue sends the copy to the email address you sign in to CoreHue with, and only accepts replies from that same address. If you forward the copy to another inbox and reply from there, your reply isn't delivered or saved. Replies from your email app also count toward the daily limit of 200 messages, and any sent after the limit isn't delivered. See How messages work.

Making sure the copies arrive

The copies come from the New messages notification ("A contact sends you a message."), which starts switched on. You'll find it under Choosing which notifications you get, in the Messages section.

Turn its email off and you'll still see new messages in CoreHue, but nothing lands in your inbox to reply to.

When to come back to CoreHue

A quick answer from your phone works well. Open the thread in CoreHue when you want to:

  • Use a saved template instead of retyping your standard reply
  • Fill in their name automatically with the Variables menu
  • Attach big files, since CoreHue turns heavy attachments into download links instead of letting the email fail
  • Check it arrived, which only the CoreHue thread can show you
  • Turn the conversation into work, like a booking, proposal or invoice

A habit that works

Your client history stays complete wherever you were when you answered, so reply fast from wherever you are, then come back to CoreHue for the message that moves things forward, like the quote or the proposal. An inquiry answered in ten minutes from your phone usually beats a perfect reply two days later.

Frequently asked questions

Will my client see my personal email address?

No. CoreHue sends your reply on under your business name, in the same email thread as your other messages, so your client sees it the same way as a reply you wrote in CoreHue.

Do I need to reply to the copy, or can I write a new email?

Reply to the copy CoreHue sent you. A brand-new email you write to your client from your mail app goes straight to them and isn't saved in CoreHue.

Does this work for new inquiries and contact form submissions?

Not at first. New inquiries and contact form submissions arrive as a notification that something new came in, rather than a copy you can reply to. Open CoreHue to read and answer them. Once the conversation is going, your client's replies arrive as copies you can answer from your inbox.
