Replying to a client

When a client writes back, reply right in the thread. They get your answer as a normal email, and the full back-and-forth stays together on their contact page.

Available on Plus and Pro

Replying is included on the Plus and Pro plans. On Free, threads stay readable but the reply box is replaced with an upgrade prompt. See Messages on the Free plan.

Writing a reply

  1. Open Messages and choose the conversation.
  2. Write in the box at the bottom of the thread.
  3. Attach files or insert a template if you need to.
  4. Send with the arrow button, or press Command+Enter on a Mac or Ctrl+Enter on Windows.

Enter on its own starts a new line, so you won't send half a sentence by accident.

Reading a thread

Your messages sit on the right and your client's on the left. A reply you sent from your own mail app is marked via email, so you can see where each answer came from.

While a message is going out it shows Sending.... Once it reaches your client's mail provider, a small tick appears. If it couldn't be delivered you'll see "This email wasn't delivered." with View details for the reason, and Try again when retrying makes sense. See My client didn't get my email.

Replying to an inquiry

When a new inquiry comes in through your booking page, reply from the inquiry. CoreHue opens Reply to inquiry with your client already filled in. The conversation in Messages starts with your reply, and their original inquiry stays on the inquiry page. See Managing inquiries.

Replying to a document email

If your client answers an invoice, proposal, contract, questionnaire or booking email, the conversation appears in Messages with the original email at the top. Reply as normal. The thread is labelled with the document it's about, which helps when one client has several things on the go.

When an address has had trouble before

If your client marked an earlier email in this conversation as spam, or their mail provider refused the address after an earlier bounce, a warning sits above the reply box: "This address reported or blocked a previous email. You can still send, but delivery may be refused." Check the address on their contact first, or reach them another way.

Replying from the Bin or an archived thread

An archived conversation works as normal. Reply and it moves back to All messages.

A conversation in the Bin can't be replied to. The reply box says "Restore this conversation before writing a reply." Choose Restore and carry on. See Archiving and deleting conversations.

What your client sees

Your reply arrives in their inbox as part of the same email conversation, from your business name. They reply the way they always do, and it lands back here.

Frequently asked questions

Can I reply from my phone?

Yes. CoreHue works in your phone's browser, and you can also reply to the copy of the message that arrives in your own inbox. Either way the reply is saved to the thread. See Replying from your own email app.

Can I edit or unsend a reply?

No. Once a reply is sent it's on its way to your client's inbox, like any email.

Why didn't a client's email show up in CoreHue?

CoreHue picks up replies to the emails you sent from it. If your client wrote a brand-new email to your own address instead of hitting reply, it goes to your normal inbox, not to CoreHue.
