Giving a service its own schedule

By default every direct booking service uses your shared availability. A single service can run on its own schedule instead, which is how you keep Tuesday mornings for headshots, or give location shoots a week's notice while studio sessions can be booked tomorrow.

Turning on a separate schedule

  1. Open the service and go to the Availability & location tab.
  2. Turn on Use this service's own schedule, "Set separate hours and booking rules for this service."
  3. Adjust the weekly hours, rules and specific dates below it.
  4. Choose Save.

The first time you switch it on, everything starts as a copy of your shared settings, so you're adjusting rather than starting from scratch. While the switch is off, View shared availability takes you to the hours this service is following.

What you can change

A service on its own schedule gets its own:

  • Weekly availability
  • Specific dates, for days off or extra hours on this service only
  • Timezone
  • Booking gap
  • Minimum notice
  • Booking window

These work just like your shared settings. See Setting your availability for what each one does. Everything saves with the rest of the service.

When it's worth doing

  • Reserving hours for certain work. Headshots on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, everything else on your normal hours.
  • Different practicalities. A quick studio session can be booked tomorrow. A location shoot needs a week's notice and a longer gap for travel.
  • Limited offers. A service that only runs on a few days, without touching your main calendar.

Google Calendar on a separate schedule

Avoid Google Calendar conflicts, "Hide times that overlap busy Google Calendar events.", starts off on a service with its own schedule, even when Google Calendar is connected.

A separate schedule is often meant to run independently, so this is on purpose. It does mean this service can be booked over a dentist appointment, so turn it on if your personal calendar matters here. See Connecting Google Calendar.

Blocking your other services

Block shared availability, "Bookings here also block the same time for services using shared availability.", decides whether a booking on this service makes you unavailable everywhere else.

On a direct booking service, Block shared availability starts off, even after you switch on the service's own schedule. Turn it on so you can't be booked twice for the same hour. That's nearly always what you want.

It only works one way

A booking on this service blocks your shared availability. A booking on your shared availability does not block this service's own times. That's what makes a separate schedule separate, but it can surprise you. If the two overlap, check them side by side on the calendar before you go live.

Seeing it on the calendar

The calendar has a view selector in the top corner. It opens on Shared availability, and each service with its own schedule gets its own entry, so you can check that service's week on its own. See Using the booking calendar.

Switching back

Turn Use this service's own schedule off and the service follows your shared hours again. CoreHue keeps the custom schedule, so you can switch back and forth without losing your work.

Frequently asked questions

Can mini sessions have their own schedule?

Mini sessions always have their own schedule: the dates you add to them. They have the same Block shared availability switch, at the top of Schedule on the Dates & location tab.

Does a separate schedule change bookings already made?

No. Existing bookings keep their date and time. The new schedule only affects which times new clients can pick.

Why was this service booked over a Google Calendar event?

Services on their own schedule start with Avoid Google Calendar conflicts off. Turn it on for that service and busy events will hide those times.

Can inquiry services have their own schedule?

No. Inquiry services don't offer times, so there's no schedule to set. You agree the date with your client in the conversation.
