Accepting card payments with Stripe
Connect Stripe and your invoices get a pay button. Your client pays by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, the money goes to your Stripe account, and CoreHue records the payment and updates the invoice, with nothing for you to do.
Stripe is available on every CoreHue plan, including Free. You can also offer manual payment methods like bank transfer alongside it.
Connecting Stripe
- Go to Payments → Settings → Payment methods.
- On the Stripe card ("Accept online card payments for your invoices."), choose Connect Stripe.
- Finish setup in the secure Stripe window. Stripe asks for your business details, proof of identity and the bank account you want paid into. If you already use Stripe, continue with the same email.
- Come back to CoreHue. The Stripe card now shows where your connection stands.
You don't need a Stripe account before you start. One is created for you during setup.
Connection statuses
| Status | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No badge | You haven't started | Connect Stripe |
| Setup needed | Stripe wants more information before you can take money | Continue on Stripe |
| In review | Stripe is checking your details. Online payments switch on as soon as Stripe enables them | Wait, or Open dashboard |
| Connected | You're ready to take card payments | Nothing |
Setup needed is the one to watch. It looks connected but can't take a payment yet. Stripe usually emails you about what's missing.
Once an account is linked, the card shows its name and email, so you can tell which Stripe account you're on. Open dashboard takes you to Stripe once you're in review or connected, and Disconnect unlinks the account from CoreHue.
Fees
CoreHue doesn't charge a platform fee on your client payments. You only pay Stripe's processing fees.
Open Fees on the Stripe card for the details: "Your Stripe account pricing applies. Rates vary by country, card and currency." View Stripe pricing opens Stripe's own pricing page.
Stripe's fee is recorded against each card payment, so you always see what actually reached you. See Payment details and fees.
Adding card payments to an invoice
Connecting Stripe makes card payments available. Each invoice, proposal and booking then picks the methods it accepts. In the payment methods picker, card payments appear as Stripe (Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay).
Stripe only appears where it can actually work: when it's connected and can take the document's currency. If it's missing from an invoice, check both.
What your client sees
A pay button with the amount on it. If the invoice accepts more than one method, your client picks Card or digital wallet ("Via Stripe · Apple Pay and Google Pay where available") and goes to Stripe's secure checkout. No sign-in, nothing to install.
On an invoice with a payment schedule, the button asks for what's due now, such as Pay deposit, Pay installment or Pay balance, and Pay in full is there if they'd rather clear the lot.
When they come back from Stripe they see Confirming your payment for a moment, then Payment received. If their bank is slower, the page says "Your payment is still being processed" and asks them not to pay again. That's normal, and the invoice updates by itself once Stripe confirms.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a Stripe account before I connect?
No. If you don't have a Stripe account, Stripe creates one during setup. If you already use Stripe, sign in with the same email and connect your existing account.
Why isn't the card option showing on my invoice?
Check that the Stripe card says Connected rather than Setup needed, that the invoice ticks Stripe (Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay), and that Stripe can take the invoice's currency. More fixes in Stripe isn't connecting.
Can my clients pay with Apple Pay or Google Pay?
Yes. Your clients can pay with Apple Pay or Google Pay where their device and browser support it. Both run through the same Stripe checkout as cards, so there's nothing extra to set up.
My client says their card was declined. What now?
A card decline almost always comes from your client's bank. Nothing was taken, so ask your client to try another card or contact their bank, or offer a bank transfer instead.
Does CoreHue add a fee to card payments?
No. CoreHue doesn't charge a platform fee on your client payments. You only pay Stripe's processing fees, which Stripe sets by country, card and currency.
