Accepting Naira payments with Bachs

Connect Bachs and your NGN invoices get a pay button for Naira cards and bank transfers. The money goes to your Bachs balance, Bachs pays it out to your bank every day, and the payment is recorded on the invoice with nothing for you to do. Bachs sits alongside Stripe and works on every plan, including Free.

For accounts set up in Nigeria

The Bachs card only appears under Payments → Settings → Payment methods if you signed up for CoreHue in Nigeria. If your business is in Nigeria and you can't see it, contact us.

Setting up Bachs

  1. Go to Payments → Settings → Payment methods.
  2. Choose Set up Bachs on the Bachs card.
  3. On Before you connect Bachs, read the Bachs Merchant Terms and Privacy Policy, then choose Agree and continue.
  4. Fill in your business details on Bachs' secure pages.
  5. Come back to CoreHue and check the Bachs card's status.

You only see the agreement step the first time, or again if the terms change.

You don't need a Bachs account first. One is created for you during setup, and you look after it from the Bachs card in CoreHue rather than a separate Bachs login. Bachs checks your business and needs a Nigerian bank account for payouts before you can take payments.

We'll email you when Bachs starts reviewing your details, and again when you're ready to take payments. Reviews usually take up to 48 hours, a little longer around weekends and holidays.

Once connected, the card shows your business name and Card and bank transfer · NGN. Manage payments opens Bachs so you can update your business details.

Bachs sometimes asks for a little more about your business after you're connected. The card then says so and the button reads Add information. You can keep taking payments in the meantime, but answer it soon, because Bachs can pause payments when a request goes unanswered.

Your payout account

Bachs pays your balance out to your bank account daily. Once you're connected, Payout info on the Bachs card shows the account name, the bank and the last four digits of the account number.

To send payouts somewhere else:

  1. Choose Change beside Payout info.
  2. On Confirm it's you, choose Send code and enter the 6-digit code we email you.
  3. Pick the Bank and enter the 10-digit Account number.
  4. Check the account holder's name that appears under the number.
  5. Choose Change payout account.

If there's no payout account yet, the button reads Add and the last step is Add payout account. The name check is there so money never goes to a mistyped account. If the bank can't find the account, check the bank and number and try again.

Bachs may review a new account before using it. Until then the card says which account it's reviewing, and payouts carry on to your current account. If Bachs turns the new one down, the card shows the reason.

Fees

CoreHue doesn't charge a platform fee on your client payments. Bachs takes its own fee from each payment before it reaches your balance:

PaymentBachs fee
Naira card2%
Bank transfer1.5%, capped at ₦2,000

Choose the info button beside the Bachs name to see these rates, with a link to View Bachs fees for Bachs' own pricing page. Bachs fees appear as Processing fee entries in The finance report.

Adding Bachs to an invoice

Connecting Bachs makes it available, and each invoice, proposal and booking service then picks the methods it accepts. In the picker, Bachs appears as Bachs (Naira cards, bank transfer).

A few things decide whether your client can pay through Bachs:

  • The invoice is in NGN. Bachs only takes Naira, so it isn't offered on invoices in other currencies. Use Stripe or a manual method for those. See Invoicing in more than one currency.
  • Each payment is at least ₦100. Keep every deposit and scheduled payment at ₦100 or more.
  • The Bachs card says Connected. Until then, Bachs doesn't appear in the picker.

You can tick Bachs and Stripe on the same invoice, along with your manual methods, and your client picks the one that suits them. See Accepting card payments with Stripe.

When a payment doesn't match the invoice

  • A transfer comes in short. What arrived is recorded and the rest stays due, so the invoice shows Partially paid.
  • A transfer comes in over. It's recorded in full, and the invoice stays Paid with an Overpaid by notice. Repay the extra to your client directly, then record the repayment on that payment so the notice clears.
  • The invoice can't take it. On a cancelled, written-off, draft or deleted invoice, or one that's moved to another currency, the payment isn't recorded. You'll get a notification and it waits under Not recorded. See Your payments list.

Refunds

Bachs can't send a payment back, so you repay your client yourself, for example by bank transfer, and then record it in CoreHue:

  1. Open the invoice and find the payment under Payments received.
  2. Choose Record repayment from its menu.
  3. Enter the Amount repaid, or choose Full amount.
  4. Choose Record repayment.

Recording it moves no money. It keeps the invoice balance, your payments list and the finance report in line with what you sent back. Bachs keeps its processing fee on the original payment. Put your refund terms in your contract so clients know what to expect. See Refunding a payment.

Disconnecting Bachs

  1. Choose Disconnect on the Bachs card.
  2. Choose Disconnect again to confirm.

Clients can't start new Bachs payments, but payments already in progress still complete and your payment history stays. Nothing changes at Bachs: your account, payout bank and any remaining balance stay as they are. An invoice that offered only Bachs reads Payment collection: Off until you reconnect or tick another method. Choose Set up Bachs any time to reconnect the same account.

What your client sees

A pay button with the amount on it. If the invoice accepts more than one method, your client picks Card or bank transfer, marked as via Bachs, and goes to Bachs' secure checkout to pay by Naira card or bank transfer. There's no sign-in and nothing to install.

The checkout stays open for 30 minutes. If your client needs longer, they tap the pay button again for a fresh one. When they come back, they see Confirming your payment and then Payment received. A transfer can take a few minutes to land, so the page may say Your payment is being processed. first. Paying your invoice walks them through it.
