How storage works for photos and videos
Your plan includes a set amount of gallery storage for photos, plus a separate allowance of video time on Plus and Pro. Only gallery photos and covers use storage, so your contracts, invoices, logo and client uploads never eat into it.
Storage by plan
| Free | Plus | Pro | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gallery photo storage | 3.5 GB | 150 GB | 1 TB |
| Gallery video | Not included | 1 hour | 4 hours |
Video is measured in hours, not gigabytes, so a long film never uses up your photo storage. See Video limits by plan.
What counts toward storage
- Every photo in a gallery, at the size of the file you uploaded. A 12 MB JPEG uses 12 MB. RAW files on Pro count at their full size too.
- Every copy of a photo. If you use Copy to… to put the same photo in a second chapter or another gallery, it counts again in each place. Move to… doesn't add anything.
- Gallery covers you upload from your device. A cover picked from the photos already in that gallery doesn't count twice.
What doesn't count
- The smaller viewing and download sizes CoreHue makes from your photos
- Videos (they use your video hours instead) and video thumbnails
- Your logo, profile photo and contract signature
- Files clients upload to questionnaires, payment proofs and message attachments
- ZIP downloads your clients create
- Galleries you've deleted
Checking how much you're using
For your whole account, go to Settings → Billing and look at Usage. Gallery photo storage shows what you've used against your plan's limit, and Gallery video shows your video time on Plus and Pro. Both turn amber once you reach 90%. The Plans page shows the same figure beside your storage allowance, for example "1.2 GB used".
For a single gallery, open the gallery, go to Settings → Details and look at Gallery size.
When you reach your limit
CoreHue won't let an upload take you over your limit. If a photo would, it's refused and you'll see "You've used all 150 GB of storage on Plus. Upgrade or free up space to keep uploading." (with your own plan and limit). In the upload panel the file shows Storage full. Everything you've already uploaded stays exactly as it is.
The one way to end up over your limit is moving to a smaller plan, for example when a trial ends or a subscription is cancelled. That's covered in When you're over your storage limit.
Freeing up space
- Delete galleries your clients have finished with. Once they've downloaded everything, the gallery has done its job. Keep your own archive and delete it in CoreHue. See Deleting a gallery.
- Delete photos that didn't make the cut, like near-duplicates in a big event gallery.
- Move rather than copy. If a photo only needs to live in one chapter, use Move to… so it isn't counted twice. See Moving, copying and deleting photos.
- Export sensibly. A high-quality sRGB JPEG looks the same to clients as a much heavier file. See Tips for uploading large galleries.
Space is freed as soon as photos or galleries are deleted. If you need more room than that, see Upgrading your plan.
CoreHue is built for delivering photos, not archiving them. Keep your originals on your own drives or backup service, so you can delete delivered galleries without a second thought.
Frequently asked questions
Do videos use my gigabytes?
No. Video has its own allowance, measured in hours of video stored: 1 hour on Plus and 4 hours on Pro. Free doesn't include video.
Do client favorites or downloads use extra storage?
No. Favorites and collections point at photos already in the gallery, and the ZIP files clients download aren't counted.
Why is my usage higher than the photos I can see?
Your storage usage is usually higher because some photos have been copied into more than one chapter or gallery, and each copy counts. Check Gallery size under each gallery's Settings → Details to find the big ones.
How big can a single photo be?
Each photo uploaded to a CoreHue gallery can be up to 100 MB, in JPEG or PNG (and supported RAW formats on Pro). See Supported photo and video file types.
