# What happens when a client accepts

> What CoreHue creates when a client accepts your proposal: the contract, the invoice and a confirmed booking, plus what still needs you and how to track it.

Your client said yes. CoreHue now sets up the job for you, step by step, and tells you when something needs your hand.

## What gets created, and when

| Moment | What CoreHue creates |
| --- | --- |
| Your client accepts | The contract, if you attached one, and one invoice, if you collect payment. Their choices lock |
| Your client finishes signing and paying | A confirmed booking, if **Create a booking** was on |

The booking is created confirmed, not pending, because the steps that would have confirmed it are already done. Your counter-signature isn't part of that chain, so a contract waiting at **Signed** doesn't hold the booking up.

## Tracking progress

An accepted proposal links to everything it created: the **Booking**, the **Contract** and the **Invoice**, each with its own status. The banner at the top names the one thing that needs doing next:

| Banner | What it means | What to do |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Payment to review** | Your client submitted proof of a manual payment | **Review payment** |
| **Your signature is needed** | Your client signed and you haven't | **Counter-sign contract** |
| **Agreement needs attention** | The contract can't go ahead as it is | **Open contract** |

When there's no banner, it's your client's move, or everything's done. The proposals list also has an **Awaiting completion** filter for accepted proposals where your client still has a step left.

## Counter-signing

1. Choose **Counter-sign contract** on the proposal, or open the contract.
2. Add your signature.

The contract becomes **Completed**, and your client can then download the PDF. Your **Home** screen also lists "N contracts waiting on you" under **Needs attention**. See [Counter-signing and completing a contract](/docs/contracts/counter-signing).

> **Skip the counter-signature step**
Set the proposal's contract to **Use saved signature** and it completes the moment your client signs. See [Saving your signature](/docs/contracts/your-saved-signature).

## The invoice

There's one invoice, carrying the full total and the payment schedule you set. The first payment is what acceptance asked for, and later payments sit on the same invoice. Your client can pay from the proposal page, from their booking page once it exists, or from the invoice itself.

Card payments record themselves. Manual payments wait for you to confirm, and confirming emails your client a receipt. See [Reviewing payment proof](/docs/payments/reviewing-payment-proof) and [Invoices for bookings and proposals](/docs/invoices/invoices-for-bookings-and-proposals).

## The booking becomes the workspace

Once the booking exists, it's where the job lives: the session details, documents, invoice balance and any further payments. Your client's link takes them there too. The proposal stays as the record of what was offered and agreed. See [Booking details: title, description and amount](/docs/managing-bookings/booking-details).

## Cancelling after acceptance

You can cancel an accepted proposal while your client still has steps left and no booking exists. Choose **Cancel proposal** in the ⋯ menu. Any signature or payment already taken stays on record.

Once the booking exists, cancel the booking itself, then void the contract and cancel or refund the invoice as needed. That's deliberate: a one-click undo on something a client has signed and paid for would cause more trouble than it saves.

## Proposals that weren't accepted

Declined, expired and cancelled proposals stay in your list. Each offers a duplicate to start again: **Duplicate proposal** on declined and expired ones, **Duplicate** on cancelled ones. Nothing is created until you save the new draft.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is the booking created before I counter-sign?

Yes. Once your client has signed and paid, the proposal's booking is created and confirmed, whether or not you've counter-signed yet.

### Where does my client pay the rest of the balance?

The rest of the balance stays on the same proposal invoice. Your client can pay it from their booking page, the proposal page before the booking exists, or the invoice link. Reminders can chase later payments for you on Plus and Pro.

### Does the client become a client in my contacts?

Yes. A lead becomes a client in your contacts automatically when they book, pay or sign a contract, so accepting and completing a proposal does it. See [Leads vs clients](/docs/contacts/leads-and-clients).

### What if my client signs but never pays?

The accepted proposal shows it's still awaiting payment, and no booking is created until they pay. Send a nudge, or let reminders do it if you're on Plus or Pro.
