Questionnaire templates

Questionnaire templates are your reusable sets of questions, ready to send or attach to a booking service. Write your pre-session form once, and every client gets the same thoughtful questions without you rebuilding it.

Find them under Templates → Questionnaires, listed by Name and when each was Updated.

Creating a questionnaire template

  • New template opens the builder. See Building a questionnaire.
  • Add from CoreHue pulls one from the library of 26 ready-made forms, with a preview beside the list.
  • Save as template from a questionnaire you've built for one client. That's often how the best ones come about.
  • Duplicate, in a template's ⋯ menu, copies one of yours.

Checking a template

Open a template to read it before using it. You see the number of Questions, when it was Updated, and every question with its type, whether it's required, and any condition that shows or hides it. Use template and Edit sit at the top, and Delete is in the ⋯ menu.

Using a template

  • Open it and choose Use template to start a new questionnaire from it.
  • In the questionnaire composer, choose Start from template.
  • On a booking service, use it for the intake questions or a scheduled questionnaire. See Sending a questionnaire automatically after booking.

In every case the questions are copied. The new questionnaire is its own thing from then on.

What's in the library

Everyone starts with Project Details and Session Feedback. The library also has forms for specific work, including Wedding Day Details, Wedding Timeline Builder, Elopement Details, Engagement Session Details, Portrait, Family, Newborn, Maternity, Boudoir and Headshot session details, Pre-Session Preparation, Event Details, Corporate Event Brief, Commercial Photography Brief, Product Shoot Brief, Real Estate Listing Brief and more.

Three cover most needs:

  • A pre-session form for the details you always need, ideally set to send itself before every booking.
  • A feedback form for afterwards. Testimonials are much easier to collect with a form than by asking.
  • A wedding form, if you shoot weddings. They need far more detail than anything else.

Editing a template

Changes apply to questionnaires created afterwards. Ones already sent keep their questions, which is what you want: changing questions while someone is answering would be confusing.

Booking services keep their own copy

A questionnaire on a booking service is a copy. Improving your template doesn't change what the service sends, so update it on the service too.

Deleting a template

Choose Delete. Answers already collected keep their own copy, and past questionnaires stay in your history.

Keeping them useful

Questionnaires grow quietly. Questions get added and nothing gets removed, and a year later clients are answering things nobody reads. Once a year, open your main one and cut anything you don't use. Shorter forms get finished. See Questionnaires that get answered for more ideas.

Frequently asked questions

Which questionnaire templates do I start with?

New accounts start with up to five questionnaire templates, picked for the kind of photography you chose when you signed up. Everyone gets Project Details and Session Feedback, and the rest match your specialisms. Add others any time with Add from CoreHue.

Will editing a template change questionnaires I've already sent?

No. Questionnaires already sent keep the questions they went out with. Only questionnaires created afterwards use the edited template.

Can I use the same template on several booking services?

Yes. Each booking service gets its own copy of the questionnaire template, so you can tweak one without affecting the others.

Do questionnaire templates count toward the Free plan limit?

No. Questionnaire templates are unlimited. On Free, the cap is on questionnaires you send manually, 5 in total. Questionnaires a booking sends automatically never count. See What's included on the Free plan.
